So how did this begin? It started with a little book of flash fiction called “Seven Deadly Sins.” We had so much fun writing the pieces and putting the book together, (and the launch party, of course!), that we decided to collaborate again, on a bigger project. And what’s bigger than The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?

Actually, Billie’s husband John (thanks John) came up with the original idea. But when Billie found a recipe for a shooter called The Four Horsemen, the idea really began to take flight.

We decided each writer would start with a Horseman, an Arch Angel, and a protagonist. The only catches were the protagonist had to be a woman and the action had to start after each of these women drank one of the shooters. After some discussion, and a bit of thumb wrestling as decisions were made, each of us took our Horseman and Arch Angel home and began to develop our characters and story.

It has been an interesting ride. We had our share of difficulties through the whole process. Personnel changes and suddenly having a man in our midst. (Hi Ryan.) Doing the collaborative process long distance. (Again, hi Ryan.) Dealing with family crises, day jobs, cranky cats, deadlines set while people were on holiday, more family crises, and summer. Learning the hard way that a novella isn’t just a novel squashed into 20,000 words. Learning to live with messy houses and families that had to fend for themselves. In other words, living the lives of writers.

However, in spite of all that — or, perhaps, because of it — we have put together 4 exceptional stories, as different as the people who wrote them. We can hardly wait for you to meet our Women of the Apocalypse.
